My friend Kurt Kolaja discovered an old refrigerator stuck between two old buildings on an old farm on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. For some reason, most likely having to do with his instinct for trouble, Kurt took the thing home, plugged it in and discovered it still worked. All it needed was some love. So here’s what happened: After many hours of scrubbing and sanding and painting, the old Frigidaire serves as a bright red backup in his pantry. Nice work, Kurt, you freak.
