Starting in December 2022, Dan’s play, “Baltimore, You Have No Idea,” was staged three years in a row to a total of 15 sold-out audiences in the 350-seat Meyerhoff theater at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The play consists of 10 scenes, all based on columns Dan wrote for The Baltimore Sun during a newspaper career that spanned five decades. A fourth run of the play, with three new scenes, will be on stage in December 2026. Visit our website.

A second play, “Baltimore Docket,” based on Dan’s experiences covering Maryland courts and trials, was staged at the BMA in February 2024 to six sold-out audiences. Baltimore Magazine named Dan best playwright in 2024.

A third play, “No Mean City: Baltimore 1966,” played to eight sold-out audiences in March 2026. It told the story of the 1966 World Champion Baltimore Orioles against the backdrop of racial tensions and the civil rights movement. It was named Best Play by Baltimore Magazine in its 2026 Best of Baltimore issue.

In April 2026, Dan staged a one-man play, “Wicked Good: A South Shore Anthology,” in his hometown of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
