Kolaja Emmy shipped to White House

Back when he was just a con man with a TV show, Trump frequently complained that the Emmy Awards were crooked and rigged against him. Why else would the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences each overlook his great show, “The Apprentice”?

Recently, when the Whining President accepted someone else’s Nobel Peace Prize, my friend Kurt Kolaja remembered Trump’s bellyaching about not having won an Emmy. Kurt, an excellent videographer and filmmaker, won an Emmy several years ago for his work in local television news. (We first met when Kurt was an award-winning features videographer for WBAL-TV in Baltimore.)

“Mr. President, it’s yours!”

Sensitive to the president’s delicate condition and generous by nature, Kurt decided to give up his prize to the man who can never have enough gold around him. So, he dusted off his old Emmy, buffed it up and branded it with the president’s name. Off it went by post to the White House this past week. I fully expect to see it soon on the Oval Office mantle with all of Trump’s other gilded gewgaws. Maybe Kurt will get an invitation to the Oval. Stay tuned.

  1. So funny and generous of Kurt Kolaja to re-home his Emmy to a President unworthy of the french fries in a Happy Meal.
