The title of my new play is taken from the title of a book written by the late Maryland Gov. Theodore R. McKeldin when he was Mayor of Baltimore in the 1960s. The book, published in 1964, celebrated the three famous philanthropists — Hopkins, Peabody and Pratt — who contributed greatly to the quality of Baltimore life.

The McKeldin family has made a limited number of copies of “No Mean City” available as a gift to those who contribute to a special fund at the University of Maryland to enhance learning programs at the McKeldin Library. The fund supports the work done by the libraries to provide specialized programs to students who are first-generation, veterans, international and/or transfers from other institutions.

Donations of $50 or $100 are suggested for the McKeldin-Wayner Family Student Success Fund for the Libraries.

You can make your donation online and receive a copy of “No Mean City” by mail, or you can make a donation after the play in the lobby outside the Meyerhoff Auditorium at the Baltimore Museum of Art.

Thanks for considering this. — Dan
