Both Maryland senators are pushing for the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident, from prison in El Salvador, where he landed one month ago in a deportation mistake acknowledged by the Justice Department. The Supreme Court last week told the Trump Regime to make Abrego Garcia’s release happen. But it hasn’t happened, and the Trump Regime appears to be defying the highest court in the land on this.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen has a lot to say about this case, and you can read about it in my Substack commentary page.

Meanwhile, Sen. Angela Alsobrooks released the following statement on Abrego Garcia:

The sequence is damning: President Trump wrongfully deported Maryland resident Kilmar Abrego Garcia. The Supreme Court unanimously ordered Trump to bring him back. And now, he’s refusing to do so. To have a President who not only disregards but so clearly abhors the rule of law will forever change this country. For the worse. This Administration’s seemingly endless cruelty has no boundaries, and it will impact every single American. But do not be fooled. This President’s goal is to overwhelm us with chaos and cruelty in hopes that we fail to notice that he lacks the ability to fulfill his most basic promise – to bring down the cost of living. Has the cost of groceries gone down yet? Of course not.  Middle and working class families continue to hurt while these billionaires continue to loot our government. Deporting Kilmar does not change those facts. He must be returned home.

  1. As always, am grateful for your taking the time to write about Trump administration and its ultra wealthy, telegenic enablers. It’s all staged for TV even this nightmare.

  2. I thought it would last my time. Checks and balances, separation of powers, due process of law. It’s gone. Abrego Garcia is just the start. Learn Icelandic or Portuguese

  3. I thought it would last my time. Namely the universal respect for separation of powers checks and balances, due process of law, civil society in general. Abrego Garcia is just the start.
