I very rarely take photographs of the fish I rarely catch. I am too eager to release them back to the rivers, ponds or bays. But I thought I should try and get a photo of this wild brown trout because it was so large and had so much power and tested my skill to land him — and because, at roughly 20 inches, he is the biggest brown I ever caught on a dry fly, and maybe the biggest trout I’ll ever catch. Thank you for the good day. Thank you for the sun and clear sky, the autumn foliage, the company of friends and kin, and for this fish swimming away with as much energy as he showed when I hooked him.
