The Southwest Sports and Fitness Alliance (SSFA) and the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership are launching a new 5K with a bigger purpose and a new course.

It’s the Sowebo Gateway 5K on September 26th, an evolution from SSFA’s 15-year neighborhood connection and SBGP’s 10-year redevelopment plan along the Middle Branch Corridor.

The new course, expanding into South Baltimore and Middle Branch Park, highlights a part of the city that needs to be seen. (See my story about the Middle Branch in the Baltimore Brew.)

The festivities include a Community Row with local vendors and resources, music and entertainment, and an awards ceremony featuring medals and gift cards for 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-place overall male and female finishers, as well as medals in 14 male and female age categories.
This event raises money for the Southwest Sports and Fitness Alliance, after-school sports, and a multitude of programs, community events, and activities.
